Manchester Shooting: Families in Plea to Find Lockdown Party Killer

RAHUL SHARMA DEBT CONNECT IN MANCHESTER, UK,

The families of two men shot dead at a Manchester lockdown party have pleaded for help to find their killer.

Abayomi Ajose, 36 and Cheriff Tall, 21, were murdered at the Moss Side party in the early hours of 21 June.

Their families have now written open letters to the community appealing for help. Mr Tall's mother Suwaidu said losing her son had left her "broken".

Mr Abayomi's wife Lola says "every day is a painful reminder" of how much she and their three children "miss him".

The victims, who did not know each other, were killed at the party, off Caythorne Street, shortly before 01:00 BST and died in hospital.

In her letter, Mr Tall's mother said: "Since my boy's murder, I have stopped living and am only existing.

"The pain I feel and our family feels knowing we won't hear his voice as he comes through the door or see him again is sometimes too much to bear."

She added: "To the people protecting and hiding these cowards, what would you do if it was your son, your brother, your husband? Please do the right thing."

Mr Abayomi's wife Lola said of his killer: "You have destroyed families and taken the life of an extremely hard working, well-loved man."

A 32-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder after the shootings has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Matt Hancock Says Government Made no Mistakes on Coronavirus Lockdown Timing

RAHUL SHARMA DEBT CONNECT IN MANCHESTER, UK,

Health secretary Matt Hancock has defended the decision to not start the coronavirus lockdown earlier, after a government scientific adviser said the delay cost lives.

Hancock said today that the government “took the right decisions at the right time” and that no people lost their lives by not locking down earlier.

The UK went into lockdown on 23 March, which was comparatively late compared to other western European countries.

There was confusion at the time over whether the UK would lock down or adopt a model similar to Sweden, which has avoided a lockdown in an attempt to establish “herd immunity” to Covid-19.

Professor John Edmunds, a member of the government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), told the BBC today that the delay in locking down “cost a lot of lives unfortunately”.

The UK coronavirus death toll surpassed 40,000 on Friday, putting the country only behind the US in total number of fatalities.

However, Hancock denied that any lives were lost due to not locking down earlier or that any mistakes had been made.

When Could Hairdressers Re-Open in the UK After Lockdown?

RAHUL SHARMA DEBT CONNECT IN MANCHESTER, UK,

We've been chopping, dying and retouching our own tresses with nothing but virtual tutorials and a little willpower since lockdown first began well over a month ago, and yet, a set date for the reopening of hair salons in the UK has still not been confirmed.

This evening Boris Johnson laid out plans for the first stages of lifting lockdown. This included relaxing the rules of one form of exercise a day, as well as a phased re-opening of retails and some school years from the beginning of June. Some hospitality services may be allowed to open from early July.

But what does this mean for the beauty and hairdressing industry, which employs over 600,000 people in over 50,000 businesses across the UK? “When hairdressers and salons were initially closed in lockdown, the government assumed we were part of the retail sector,” says Millie Kendall, the CEO of the British Beauty Council, speaking to the Telegraph tonight exclusively.

“I think hairdressers will be grouped in this sector, but as Boris said there will be a gradual phased opening of retail from early June, I think hairdressers may be part of this latter phase of stage two re-opening, potentially by mid- to late June.

The cabinet minister Robert Jenrick is facing questions after travelling to visit his parents at the weekend, despite repeatedly urging the public to stay at home during the lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus.

The Guardian has established that the housing, communities and local government secretary – who has made media appearances urging people to save lives by remaining in their properties even if tempted to see loved ones – went to see his parents at their Shropshire home, 40 miles by road from his own.

A witness has told the Guardian they saw Jenrick, 38, visiting the property at the weekend.

A source close to the cabinet minister admitted that he had made the journey during lockdown conditions, but defended the trip by saying he dropped off food and medication, and did not enter the house. Jenrick later confirmed this in a tweet in which he said his parents were both self-isolating, because of age and his father’s medical condition, and he had respected social distancing rules.

Government instructions say: “You should not be visiting family members who do not live in your home.” The only exception is if they need help, such as having shopping or medication dropped off.

The Guardian understands that the local community has been supporting Jenrick’s parents by delivering groceries in recent weeks. This was not denied, though the source said Jenrick had collected and delivered medication for his parents, too.

Alcohol Sales Banned in Greenland Capital During Lockdown

The sale of alcohol has been banned in the Greenland capital, Nuuk, in an attempt to reduce violence against children during the period of confinement caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

“In such a situation, we have to take numerous measures to avoid infection,” the prime minister, Kim Kielsen, said on Saturday.

“But at the heart of my decision is the protection of children; they have to have a safe home.”

Nearly one in three people living in the autonomous Danish Arctic territory suffered sexual abuse during childhood. Experts link the abuse to alcohol, drugs and ignorance of children’s rights.

After Greenland closed down schools on Monday with 10 cases of coronavirus diagnosed, a rise in violence followed.

“Unfortunately, in Nuuk, domestic violence has been on the rise in recent weeks,” the health minister, Martha Abelsen, told local media. Excessive drinking by parents exposed children to dangers in the home, Greenlanders were warned.
